Release 2.0!!!

We finally comitted to it, changing the big number, and since you couldn’t care less about the number, let’s see what’s under the hood.

It sure got a big facelift, while maintaining the overall structure of the commands, we freed ourselves from outdated Windows guidelines and pumped a bit of contemporary app design in it. And with Boards you can now customize the look and feel of your Apps even further.

But again, the look doesn’t matter as much as the new features, and 2.0 is full of it.

Boards sure are the main addition to this version. Each Board is a canvas that allow you to organise your Views together with media, titles and various customisations.

By specifying your Data Model relations, you can link Views together so that selection and filtering in one View cascades to other Views in the model. This extends to all places where the Views are accessible, Boards or not.

We were so excited about this new feature, which has been in the pipeline for so long, that we made 2 videos for it – yes everything comes in pair with BIMSens 2.0. One video to create a SQL+Excel app from scratch, and one with only the Boards design stuff for those who are already experts.

Boards basically allow you to create customised, purpose built, interactive apps, with zero coding/development skills and in minimum time (you can literally build an app in less than 10 minutes)

We have added plenty more: Project Tree search, Recent Files management, extensible framework for Board Elements, improved filtering UX and Data Source mangement, more contextual help where you need it the most… you can read it all here: http://bimsens.com/Help/2.0/WhatsNew.html.

You’ll notice that the actual latest version is 2.0.0.2 already. Big releases like these always come with some teething problems, so do make sure you keep an eye on the releases and hot fixes in the next few weeks. Might be a good idea to activate the auto-update.

Give it a try, let us know what you think about it, and what you want to see next.
