KNOW YOUR TERMS

Before diving in, consider having a quick look at the Terminology of BimSens and the use of the Projects Tree  if you are not yet familiar with it.

Projects and Apps

To load data in the BimSens control, you must configure a Project using the Projects Tree.

  1. Create a new Project
  2. Add a DataSource from the available types
  3. Edit the DataSource and add a DataView
  4. Optionally, customise the DataView with one or several Layouts to manage columns visibility and order and formatting
  5. Add Boards to link DataViews together in Apps

 SHARE PROJECTS

You can use the Export button  to save the configuration as a shareable Project (bsxp) file. You can also configure BimSens to automatically restore last used connection when it is restarted.

Resuming a Project

If you already configured a Project during a previous session, it will automatically be saved as a recently opened file and can be configured to be restored at the next session. When a file is loaded you can simply double click one of the DataViews,  Layouts or Boards in the Projects Tree to reopen the connection, and display the latest data.

You can get access to previously loaded projects via the Recent Files menu, as well as pin your favourite files.

Open a Project (bsxp) File

You might have been given an bsxp file with all the setup already prepared. You can double click bsxp configuration files to open them in BimSens, or use the File menu to browse to and append the file to the tree.

Bsxc files are components files that cannot be opened directly, they must be imported in the respective component configuration dialogue.

 LICENCE RESTRICTION ON CONFIGURATION FILES

All licence levels of BimSens do not support all configuration files. Refer to the licence details or the version comparison for more information.

Double click one of the DataSource's DataView or Layout or on a Board to open the connection.

 ABOUT AUTHENTICATION

You will need to enter a Login and Password to connect to most DataSources, ask the DataSource provider if you don't know them.

Some DataSource can authenticate you from your Windows account (Windows Authentication), other do not require authentication at all. In any case, personal details are never saved in configuration files.
