Save the… Filter

With all the activity lately, a new release is already upon us, 2.2.3!

We have added Bookmarks allowing you to save the current filters into a easily reusable snapshot, that can be re-applied on its own or in combination with other filters. Whenever a filter is active with the Filter Banner turned on, or via the Sources Tree (Right Click a View > Bookmark), you can open the Bookmark configuration dialogue:

The actual filter can be manually adjusted, including by inserting parameters from the project like the {AppUser} to use the user name and filter on someone’s own tasks for instance, or {FileName} to filter data in viewers like Navisworks based on the opened file.

You can also choose the Locations where the Bookmark is to be displayed, in the default menu and/or on its own in the tool bar; this may remind you of the recently added settings for Actions Locations. Your bookmark then appears in the specified locations in the tool bar, and can be applied by clicking the button:

By default, applying a Bookmark will reset the filter first, then apply the Bookmark filter, but if you hold the Control button pressed when clicking on a Bookmark it will add to (intersect with) the current filters instead. This allows for instance to filter for ‘My Task’ followed by ‘Critical OR Late’.

Board Elements Linked to External Projects

Another game changing feature coming out with release 2.2.3 is for Apps admins: the ability to link data Views and Layout from other BIMSens projects directly into Boards. This will allow you to configure your projects centrally then link the relevant parts into multiple apps, especially useful for shared resources like Users, Projects etc.

When adding a Data Element to a Board, in the Content configuration section, simply click the link ‘Browse for External Project’ and select the project to link. Relative paths to the current project are supported.

You can also leverage this feature simply by opening the 2 projects silmutaneously in the app, and drag and dropping Views/Layout from one project onto a Board from the other, and this will be activated automatically.
