A Licence is required to run every version of BimSens including the free Viewer. There are 3 main license types: Viewer, Author and Full.
To learn more about the different license type check the version comparison page.
You can request a license using the license request form.
For personal use, students and universities you do not need a licence to use BimSens, and can simply register an email address via the License dialogue.
To load a BimSens license file, open BimSens in the application of your choice, go to Help > License.
In the License Info Dialogue click the Browse button and navigate to a valid license file (.lic).
The selected license is loaded for this application, with corresponding information on type, issue date and expiry date.

To obtain a licence from a server, go to Help > Licence. In the Licence Info dialogue click Connect to a Licence Server, type in the server address and select the type of licence you want, then click Get. If a licence of the requested type is available it will be assigned to you until you release it or close the application.
if you do not know the server address contact your BimSens Admin. To configure your own server, refer to the Licences Server topic
Configuration files are the files that BimSens uses to save configuration settings. They are xml file that come in two formats: protected and clear (or un-protected).
When using the Personal mode, BimSens can only read and write clear xml files.
When using Viewer and Author Licences, BimSens can only read protected files, and not write any format.
When using a Full Licence, BimSens can read both clear and protected xml files, but only writes protected files.
