Editing the Data
Edit a Single Item
If a DataView supports edit operations, you can edit some or all the Properties by double clicking the grid or clicking the Edit button in the right click menu. In the Property Change dialogue, the header shows the ID of the object you are editing.
The changes you make to the data are not stored locally in BimSens, they are sent directly to the DataSource.
If you input the wrong value or onto the wrong item(s) you can reset the value by clicking the Clear button that is available when the mouse hovers the editing control. This will send a NULL or Blank value to the DataView.
DRAG & DROP FILES/URL TO CREATE HYPERLINKS |
|
When editing a column with Data Type text, you can drag and drop files or urls onto the textbox to automatically get links to the dropped media. Make sure you tick the option for Hyperlinks formatting and you will be able to open files directly from BimSens grid. |
Edit Multiple Items
You can change the Property of several items at a time:
- Select all items to edit in the grid
- While holding the Ctrl button pressed, double click one of the selected item in the column to edit. Alternatively, right click one of the selected item in the column to edit and select Edit
FASTER EDIT |
|
When the Grid Trigger is active or with complex Data Model, using the right click menu to Edit properties is faster than the double click as it doesn't trigger the selections of 3D elements, or cascading filters. |
Edit item name or count |
|
If you have selected multiple items, the Property Change dialogue header shows the count of selected items instead of the id. |
Using Forms to Edit Multiple Fields
When the Property Change dialogue is open, you can click the Edit button to customise the dialogue into a basic Form.
The Edit Mode allows you to:
- Change the form Title to be relevant to the fields being edited
- Add or Remove fields to edit (Note only the fields that are editable are visible in the selection drop down)
- Reorder fields
The Form customisations are associated to the field you clicked to open the Property Change dialogue. If you edit this field again, the Form will be shown instead of the default single field dialogue.
Edit Items in a Sequence
BimSens also supports editing multiple objects as a numbered sequence. See the section Editing a Sequence for more information.
